For my final Capstone Project while studying at SAE Creative Institute, I collaborated with on of the Capstone Films from SAE's Film Department acting as their Graphic Designer and Unit Photographer.
Title Treatment
With a heavy influence from eastern film, it was important that the title treatment reflected this connection.  While originally looking at examples of eastern calligraphy typography, I discovered that the majority of eastern films used a more traditional typographic style when released to a western market but have a slight flair and accent to them.
The Title Treatment became iconic to the film, and help set the standard and tone for the films branding.
Pre-Production Branding
During the pre-production phase of the film, it was important to the production team that the film had a strong a clear presence.  This was achieve by creating a uniformal look for all publications. These included: Actor & Agency Briefs; Pitch Presentations; Posters; and other publications
With the exception of photography a white on black (for digital) or black on white (for print) colour scheme  was employed, insuring a bold and easily read look was created regardless of medium.
As the film was yet to be cast, the image of a lone park bench (from a key scene in the film's original script),  was used. The image was taken by myself on location during a location scout.
Film Poster
Two different film posters where created for the film, a Day Bill sized poster and an "A Series" poster.
The producers wanted a film poster that would reflect the art feel of the film, so we looked at using the tradition pre-WWII sized Day Bill.  This large and elongated poster, created extra impact for the film and allowed it to stand out from other films.  The image of the two actresses walking along the train tracks is from a key scene from near the end of the film.
The "A Series" poster was created for ease and mass production as it can easily be printed as an A4 or A3 poster at any printer or copier without too much work. The image of the two girls sitting on the bench is a scene from early on the film and shows the personality of the two girls.
